With so much to see and do in Cabo, choosing your itinerary and adding excursions can be challenging for even the most experienced traveller. To make it easier, we are going to share some of our favorite things to do while on holiday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Let’s take a look…
Top Things To Do In Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Watch A Sunset Over Land’s End
In the southern area of Cabo, you will find Land’s End and some of the most breathtaking sunsets you will ever see. You can take a water taxi or a boat tour to see Land’s End from the sea and get an even closer view. Many of our guests Sunset de Mona Lisa one of the best restaurants to sit and watch the sunset over Lands End. The restaurant is great for families and also is an incredibly romantic setting.
Visit San Jose del Cabo
San Jose del Cabo offers a glimpse into the history of Mexico. Just a short taxi ride from Cabo, you will find San Jose del Cabo’s streets filled with talented vendors selling artisan crafts and goods, and countless restaurants serving local fare. During season (check with your concierge), the downtown offers a Thursday Night Artwalk. Local painters and sculptors open their doors and allow everyone to see their newest pieces on display. The streets erupt with dance and music and visitors flock from all over Los Cabos to see, hear, dine and enjoy!
Play On Playa Del Amor
Next to Land’s End and south of the downtown Cabo area, Playa Del Amor offers one of the area’s busiest shorelines. There are two sides with two bodies of water: one on the Sea of Cortez and another on the Pacific Ocean. Be careful of the Pacific Ocean side as the waves are rough and have been known to catch people off-guard and pull them out to sea. Locals refer to this side of the beach as “Divorce Beach,” thus ensuring that it is different than the other side, which is “Lover’s Beach.”
Tour The Parroquia de San Lucas Evangelista Catholic Church – Iglesia
A quick visit to the Parroquia de San Lucas Evangelista Catholic Church – Iglesia is a must if you like historic sites. With a deep, interesting history dating back to the 1700s, the Church Of Saint Luke is the main Catholic Church in Cabo San Lucas and it features two ancient bells at the top and a wide range of activities to explore. Be sure to time your visit as the Church has a very busy schedule and can be at occupancy multiple times per day.
Walk Around the Cabo San Lucas Marina
Cabo’s marina is the perfect spot for relaxing, shopping, or grabbing a bite to eat. If you plan on booking one of the many aquatic adventures in Cabo San Lucas, most cruises and ships depart from this marina. Keep your eye out for the famous Pancho! Pancho is a very friendly sea-lion who is not afraid to be the center of attention. Many visitors have seen Pancho sneak onto boats in the marina and steal the day’s fresh catch.
Deep-Sea Fishing Adventure on the Sea of Cortez
Cabo San Lucas and the Sea of Cortez have some of the area’s best deep sea fishing. You can catch everything from mahi and mackerel, to yellowfin tuna and snapper. In October, Cabo hosts The Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Fishing Tournament. Fisherman travel from around the world to compete in one of the largest purses in the history of fishing.
Go Whale Watching
Between the months of November to March, the Baja Peninsula attracts whales which are in their migration period of the year. Sign up for a Cabo San Lucas whale watching adventure and see whales from just a few yards away, when in season. Cabo Platinum also provides a list of Villas that have the best ‘Whale Watching Ocean Views,’ where guests can see this magical occurrence from the comfort of their beds.
Take a Day-Trip to Todos Santos
If you’re an art lover, there’s no better day trip than Todos Santos. Todos Santos is a bit of a contrast from the beach life, since the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range is tucked behind the area, but it features another kind of beauty. With countless galleries and the Professor Nestor Agundez Martinez Cultural Center, Todos Santos is the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon. Organize a day trip with one of Cabo Platinum’s concierge and be sure to include a stop at Hacienda Cerritos for cocktails over the crashing waves of the Pacific.
Visit Santa Maria Beach
If you prefer your beaches less crowded, head over to Santa Maria and enjoy the secluded shoreline. Santa Maria is a protected marine sanctuary, so you have the chance to see many colorful species of fish. Bring a snorkel set and witness some of the most entertaining underwater attractions in the area. In 2019, the Montage Hotel opened their doors on this beach and visitors now have the opportunity to enjoy a crafted cocktail while relaxing seaside.
