Pacific-side of Los Cabos

The Pacific side of Los Cabos is most famous for the artist and culinary colony of Todos Santos. This picturesque town is home to the annual Mango Festival and diverse monthly art walks and possesses an authentic Mexican experience. After embarking on your day trip to Todos Santos, stop at Arts & Beer for crafts made by locals and potent but refreshing cocktails. Then, stroll the downtown strip of boutiques for artisan gift shopping at unbeatable prices.

Once your group works up an appetite, the Hierba Buena Restaurant is perfect for a premier farm-to-table experience. Its prime location puts visitors in the heart of the fertile lands of Pescadero. Nearby, you'll find the famous Cerritos beach, home to beginner's surf breaks, and the Hacienda Cerritos Hotel. This legendary hotel sits atop a prestigious rock formation that hovers above the crashing waves of the Pacific.

For views of coves and calmer waters, trek to the Punta Lobos Hotel San Cristobal. You'll be delighted to find fine dining, a beautiful beach lounge, and a steady surf break. In contrast, a unique experience awaits you at the Bunkhouse Hotel, a Liz Lambert creation complete with a bar, library, and retail shop. Above the hotel facing the sunset, you can have dinner at the fresh and local El Mirador. Another dining option atop the Bunkhouse Hotel is Free Souls. This eatery features a small swimming pool for those looking to cool off between courses.

The Future of the Pacific Side

A few notable upcoming Cabo San Lucas Villa projects include the Tres Santos, La Poza, Cerritos’ Surfside Residences, San Cristobal, Villas de Todos Santos, and La Cachora in Todos Santos. Between Todos Santos and Cabo, you'll pass luxury development on Rancho San Lucas: future home to the brand new Greg Norman signature golf course and Norman Beachfront Estates.

With a legendary golfer like Greg Norman in charge of design, you can be sure to find some of the most competitive courses and golfing facilities in all of Los Cabos. Also in Rancho San Lucas, your group can visit the colorful Mexico Village, where you'll be met with cultural dining experiences, shopping, and entertainment. Enjoy the nearby community park with a 15-acre lake, hiking trails, a sports complex, and a tennis center.

Diamante Golf & Resort Community

Slightly north of San Lucas resides the Golf & Beach Resort Community of Diamante Cabo San Lucas. Diamante is home to the first-ever 18-hole Tiger Woods golf course, "El Cardonal." On the opposite side of the property is Davis Love III's "Dunes Course." This Diamante Golf Course is flanked by two beachfront hotels: the Hard Rock Hotel and the Nobu Hotel. To top it off, you'll find that the Diamante Cabo San Lucas boasts an enormous 10-acre crystal lagoon.

The Diamante Lagoon hosts community residents and club members with SUP boards, paddle boats, kayaks, beach sports, a swim-up bar, and an exercise facility designed by famous local trainer and fitness coach Modu Seye. Pro tip: Modu is available for booking personal training in your villa; ask your concierge for additional terms and details. Subdivisions inside the Diamante include the Ocean Club Residences, Golf Villas, Sunset Hill Estates, The Diamante Beach Estates, The Casitas, and Dunes Club Penthouse Suites.

Quivira Los Cabos

Following the coastline from Diamante to Cabo, you'll pass through a gorgeous beach community called Quivira, often referred to as the most underrated beach property in Los Cabos. Founded by Ernesto Coppel in 1997, this 3-mile stretch of beach houses 14 diverse communities, multiple hotels, the Quivira Golf Club, and time-share, fractional, full-ownership, and long-term villa rentals.

Full-ownership residential communities include the Copala Residences & Condominiums, Coronado, and the Private Residences at Montecristo. The fractional-ownership residences are Novaispania and Montecristo Estates. The three, soon-to-be four, Quivira resort communities include the adults-only Pueblo Bonito Pacifico, family-friendly Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, full-service Towers at Pacifica, and 120-room St. Regis anticipating its grand opening in 2021.

At this time, pre-sales are available and include the Lighthouse Estates, remarkable estate-size home lots overlooking the Jack Nicklaus Golf Links and crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. Platinum's Real Estate team predicts long-term property value consistent with the installation of new amenities and community expansion. The Quivira Golf Course is undoubtedly Jack Nicklaus' most incredible creation to date. Partly, this is because it is a breathtaking 18-hole course that wraps itself around a sprawling rocky mountain. A few holes are situated atop craggy cliffs 200 feet above the tumultuous Pacific Ocean.

The Links

Golfers can enjoy incredible sights and relish exploring this uncommonly creative side of the game. Comfort stations dot courses with amenities like an open bar, tapas and sliders, sit-down table service, and one of the best whale-watching lookouts in all of Mexico. This exclusive perch is located 0.5 miles up the side of a mountain on a golf cart path and is for playing members only.

The drive from Cabo San Lucas Marina to Todos Santos is 45 minutes of scenic paradise. The highway is surrounded by rolling hills home to numerous species of lively flora and fauna that creep towards the beautiful Baja coastline. However, when spending time near the water, use extreme caution as the ocean is not suitable for casual swimming. Instead, take a long stroll down the white sands and look out for exciting marine life sightings.

Exploring Cabo San Lucas

Locals refer to this area as the "party side" or "spring break" city. San Lucas is a fabulous destination for large groups as there is an abundance of restaurants, shopping, nightlife, live music, and events. Check out a local surfing competition or ATP tennis tournament, dance at concerts, or peruse the fresh farmer's markets.

If you walk the San Lucas marina, you'll likely be offered a glass-bottom boat tour to visit the famous Arch and Lover's Beach. Try your luck on a fishing excursion or party on the Pacific with a booze cruise. During your long walk on the beach, you will pass a few prime choices: Edith's, The Office, El Farallon, Don Manuel's, Manta at the Cape Hotel, and Hacienda Cantina y Cocina.

For those traveling inland, you have the opportunity to experience authentic Mexican cuisine from family-owned establishments cooking up incredible generational family recipes. A few notable locales include the Los Tres Gallos, Maria Corona, Alcaravea, Pintada, and Sunset de Mona Lisa.

DOWNTOWN CABO BEACHES

San Lucas hosts one of the best swimmable beaches in the Baja: Medano Beach! Soft, white sand hugs the gentle currents for nearly four kilometers. Medano Beach is the most active area due to its vast selection of restaurants, beach bars, hotels, and full-ownership luxury communities. At Medano Beach, you'll never run out of entertainment. A few activities you'll encounter include SUP boarding, jet skiing, parasailing, kayaking, surf fishing, and volleyball. Use a panga boat to cross the bustling waters to reach the quieter side of Medano Beach, out front of the historic Cabo Cannery.

Continue beyond to find Pelican Rock, Lover's Beach, and the famous rock structure, "El Arco." Pro tip: every four years, the tide changes, and El Arco exposes sand underneath. This is an exciting and rare sight to witness, but keep your distance as it is hazardous to attempt to reach. On the opposite side of the rock formation is a stretch of land humorously referred to as "Divorce Beach." This area likely gets its name because it is the opposite of the swimmable and calm Lover's Beach. Divorce Beach waters are choppy; even the strongest swimmers cannot rough its unforgiving currents. If you like to swim or even wade into the ocean, stay on Lover's Beach, where it's safe and serene to swim.

Miracles happen on Pedregal Beach.

Another one of San Lucas' favorite beaches is Pedregal Beach. These pristine shores are located on the Pacific side, a well-kept secret within the private cliffside community of Pedregal Cabo San Lucas. Bring your camera to Pedregal Beach as the rocks provide some of the most unimaginable photo opportunities in the world.

Fishing at Pedregal Beach is allowed, but use caution if visiting during one of the special evenings throughout the year that marks the release of baby turtles. Once the turtle eggs are laid, you can witness their collection by local preservationists. The turtles will be incubated and released back into the ocean. Forty years later, they will return to continue the miracle of their lifecycle.

Tap into all this location has to offer by staying in one of the following family-friendly, guard-gated communities:

  • 1.Pedregal Cabo San Lucas
  • 2.Hacienda Beach Club and Residences (otherwise known as Hacienda Cabo Resort)
  • 3.Villa La Estancia
  • 4.Rancho Paraiso
  • 5.Santa Carmela

Pro-tip: If your group has small children and they have never seen a turtle release Cabo before, make sure this is on the list of to-dos! Check with your concierge for the turtle release Cabo schedule and try to attend as it’s a fascinating opportunity, especially for the young ones.

A Cabo San Lucas Villa - Our Recommendations

We recommend a family-friendly Cabo San Lucas villa in security guard-gated communities that include Pedregal Cabo San Lucas, Hacienda Beach Club and Residences (otherwise known as “Hacienda Cabo Resort”), Villa La Estancia, Rancho Paraiso, and Santa Carmela. If you need a restaurant that will leave a lasting impression in Cabo San Lucas, you can never go wrong with El Farallon, Don Manuels at Waldorf Astoria, Hacienda Cantina y Cocina, Los Tres Gallos, Edith’s and The Office. For Family Friendly Cabo San Lucas Restaurants, we also recommend La Pintada, Al Caravea and KOI Sushi at the back of the food court in the Walmart Plaza.

The Cabo San Lucas "Tourist Corridor"

Situated between San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo is the Tourist Corridor. The Corridor is home to beachfront resorts such as the Marquis, Hilton, Le Blanc, Grand Velas, Garza Blanca, Villa La Valencia, Cabo Surf Hotel, and the legendary Palmilla. Here, you can access two of the finest snorkeling beaches in the area: the swimmable Chileno Bay Beach and Santa Maria Cove, home to the Montage Resort and many delectable, high-end restaurants serving fresh seafood and handcrafted cocktails.

The nearby El Tule Beach is known for being a supreme area to surf. After a tiring day out on the waves, shower up and get ready for a romantic dinner in the Comal Restaurant at the Auberge Chileno Bay Resort and Spa. Resting on rocks that jut over the ebbing waves, Chileno Bay is one of the most incredible sunset vistas in the area.

The collaborative effort of RED Development Group and L.A.'s Gulla Jonsdottir Architecture and Design provides guests with a magnificent haven along with one of the most favorable swimming beaches in the area. It is so easy to fall in love with Chileno Bay while sipping a smoky mezcal cocktail or salted margarita, watching the sky slowly paint itself stunning shades of orange, red, purple, and pink. Many visitors think this beautiful scenery can be achieved in all of Cabo, but our team agrees that there is something magical about the rock formations in front of Chileno Beach Club. It is not be missed and worthy of making sure you get to dinner early just so you can watch the sunset over the azure waters with a delectable cocktail from Comal Chileno bay Resort.

Take a walk on the wild side.

Activities unique to the Tourist Corridor include the Wild Canyon Zip-Line & ATV Adventure and Cuadra San Francisco Equestrian Center—complete with professional horseback riding and jumping facilities. Get out on the water with Zippers surf break or explore the various canyon and arroyo entrances to off-roading and trailblazing. Golfers find their utopia in exclusive links designed by Tom Fazio, Robert Trent Jones II, Greg Norman, and Jack Nicklaus.

Villa Serena

Villa Serena is the height of beachfront luxury in the Corridor. This private villa sits in one of four beachfront properties in a boutique gated residential community. This property gives new meaning to beachfront with its sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez from the kitchen and direct steps to the sand. Renters can relax on their own little stretch of private beach. During certain months of the year, whale sightings are typical from the balcony. Villa Serena comes complete with a complimentary butler, daily housekeeping services, and Platinum Signature Personal Concierge.

San Jose del Cabo

Visit the historic city of San Jose, famous for its downtown arts district. On select Thursday nights, the streets erupt with activity as artists and street performers showcase their crafts, play music, and dance throughout the city. Downtown culinary selections are boundless, with restaurants such as Tequilas, Don Sanchez, The French Riviera Bakery, La Lupitas Tacos, Mezcal, Habaneros and Baja Brew. Those hungry for an authentic farm-to-table experience will love Tamarindos, Flora Farms, and Acre.

These options are also excellent for booking large group events and cooking classes. Each farm provides fresh produce and poultry to a significant portion of the Los Cabos community. The Fisherman's Dock and marina is in close proximity, so prepare for the freshest daily catch of your whole vacation. Flora Farms hosts versatile music and arts events year-round, so consider matching your travel dates with their calendar for a unique festival experience.

A few San Jose del Cabo jewels to explore include the wine shop, cafe, Sanchez Jewelry Boutique, James Perse Fashion, and Eclectic Array, an artisan clothing and handcrafts store. The phenomenal Flora Farms has been featured in Forbes Magazine, Travel & Leisure, and Robb Report. Although our team recommends Flora Farms for lunch, so you can experience the gardens and surrounding setting, it is also a very lively place at night. And if you can’t get a reservation at Flora Farms, then we also recommend the neighboring farm, Acre Baja, also in San Jose del Cabo. Acre Baja has a petting zoo for the kids and a high-energy bar for the single crowd. More recently, Acre Baja built tree-houses which make for hotel rooms and rammed-earth homes where guests can purchase fractional ownership.

How To Get Down in San Jose del Cabo

San Jose del Cabo visitors will enjoy day club pool parties, live music, and DJ-hosted events. We recommend bottle service and VIP areas at the OMNIA at the Hakkasan Resort for an unforgettable Vegas-style pool and jacuzzi party. The live music venues in the San Jose Hotel Zone provide groups like bachelor and bachelorette parties with the time of their lives. Fuel up at any of the highly rated restaurants nearby, such as Casa Calavera or El Fish and Grill. The famous pool parties in this area have hosted internationally acclaimed DJs like David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, Zedd, Diplo, Dillon Francis, Illenium, and more.

Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Marina Resort

Traveling along the beach towards the East Cape, travelers will encounter Puerto Los Cabos: home to a marina, dolphin excursions, and a fishing village. Accommodations like the JW Marriott, Hotel El Ganzo, Ritz Carlton Zadun Hotel, and Secrets Adults-only All-inclusive Resort dot the shores. Golfers will be delighted to play the 27-hole Nicklaus and Norman Golf Course, which meanders through the luxurious villa communities and vacation rentals of La Noria, El Altillo, and Fun. These links feature a 5-star clubhouse complete with dining, a pro-shop, and an exclusive area for members on the Baja Peninsula.

Many residents say they chose this particular community for easy access to the East Cape. East Cape hosts several well-known surf breaks, boutique hotels, and restaurants. This quieter alternative has been a legendary area for surfers and beach lovers who want to get away from the busy inland and immerse themselves in the serene side of Mexican culture.

It is one of the most natural and untouched areas of the Baja Peninsula. However, East Cape is still a prime location for surfing, shore fishing, ATVing, and camping. There are countless hidden escapes to slip into and enjoy the natural tranquility of one of Los Cabos' most pristine beaches. After spending the day at your luxury resort or participating in water sports activities, the East Cape is the perfect place to unwind for a more solitary vacation experience.

The East Cape

Meandering the East Cape Highway towards La Ribera, you'll come across the Vidanta Hotel, Palo Escapeda Road, Vida Soul Hotel, and Cabo Pulmo, the famous diving area. Marked as a UNESCO Heritage Site, this wildly popular area is known as a deep-sea diving paradise. Due to its private nature, it is not clearly labeled. Ask your concierge for a map, or have them organize private transport to and from your luxury amenities for an easy day trip.

This surfer's haven also boasts astounding offshore fishing. East Cape is as daring and subtle as it is peaceful and serene. An absolute retreat from the buzz of the rest of the Baja Peninsula, cell service in the East Cape of Los Cabos is intermittent. Be prepared with whatever you need for the day as stores, gas stations, and commerce are sparse. Your butler service or concierge can help you anticipate all your needs and pack lightly but meaningfully.

Your Complete Los Cabos Vacation

Once you make it around the tip of the Baja peninsula, your journey completes in La Ribera. Home to big-name hotels such as the Four Seasons and Rancho Leonero, this small but busy town is developing a world-class marina, golf course, and several luxury communities. This area is expanding rapidly. The Platinum team can provide weekly updates to interested parties upon request. Every day something new emerges in the community of Four seasons Costa Palmas, so be sure to check with us for updates.

There is no better way to experience everything Los Cabos and Baja California have to offer than a Cabo San Lucas Villa. A luxury villa Los Cabos vacation provides a private enclave complete with a butler to serve your beverages, so you can enjoy your company and the crowned jewel of Mexico to the fullest extent. Take advantage of all the amenities your villa has to offer by making reservations for a private chef or fully stocked kitchen. Special perks like a mariachi band at arrival or a sunset yacht tour around Medano Bay make for an amazing time no matter which villa or what night stay you choose. Our concierge service will be on call to ensure your dream vacation to Baja California Sur and the Sea of Cortez go according to plan ... so what are you waiting for? Your villa in Los Cabos awaits.
