Year Round Cabo Weather Forecast

Using Cabo Weather Averages to Choose the Best Time to Come to Cabo

In 2017, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, had a record-breaking year for tourism.

Perhaps it’s the fantastic Cabo weather, the fabulous hotel accommodations, the beautiful beaches, or the array of wonderful food. Regardless, the city welcomed almost three million visitors in 2017 alone.

In fact, that was Cabo’s strongest tourism year since 2010, growing an astounding 16 percent, highlighted by a six-month-long growth streak.

So, what’s the best weather Los Cabos has to offer? If you’re planning an epic family trip, what months should you consider for your visit?

Here, we highlight the Cabo San Lucas water temperature by month, offer insight into the Cabo San Lucas hurricane season, and discuss the average year-round temperatures you can expect to feel.

Let’s get started!

The Average San Jose Del Cabo Weather

When’s the best time to plan the ultimate Cabo vacation?

Well, the good news is that Cabo’s weather is relatively predictable, and you can go by their yearly averages to plan a trip you’ll enjoy. The temperatures range, on average, from 61 to 91 degrees Fahrenheit. According to travel experts, the best time to enjoy outdoor activities in Cabo is from mid-March to late June.

During these months, the weather isn’t oppressively hot, and you can enjoy activities like fishing, swimming, and laying out on the myriad of Cabo beaches.

Of course, if you don’t mind dry heat (especially if you’re coming from colder environments), you can enjoy Cabo even in its peak hottest months, which range from mid-June to the end of October. You can expect average temperatures of about 89 degrees Fahrenheit during this period.

“Winters” in Cabo can hardly be called that! Cabo weather in the winter months, from early December to the last weeks of March, sits at an ideal daily temperature of about 81 degrees F.

The Cabo San Lucas weather in January is when you’ll see the most drastic dip, and even then, the temperature is a cool 61 degrees F (the lowest), with a high of 79 degrees F.

The Cabo San Lucas weather by month doesn’t change much, and because of this, it’s easy to plan and pack. Keep your clothing lightweight, show a little skin, and bring a light jacket for walking on the beach at night. You’ll likely never even have to unpack the coat!

Top Water Activities You Must Try In Cabo

You’ll never be at a loss of things to do in Cabo, but especially not when it comes to the water. Whether you’re scuba-certified or not, whether you’ve got a large family or you’re there with your spouse, consider adding the following activities to your itinerary:

  • Take a water taxi to Land’s End, a notable granite rock monument
  • Go whale watching, where you may be able to witness humpback or gray whales in migration (in season)
  • Scuba diving (or snorkeling) at one of the many hotspots
  • Surfing, again, at one of the many coastlines Cabo has to offer
  • Swim with whale sharks
  • Take a sunset cruise
  • Marlin fishing (a popular activity for residents and tourists alike)
  • Charter a Luxurious Yacht or other sporty sea vessels
  • And if you’re not into doing any of the above, no worries! Part of going on vacation is relaxing, right? Cabo has several beaches to choose from, all offering soft white sand and crystal-blue water.

Some of the best beaches in Cabo are:

  • Medano Beach
  • Playa del Amor, or Lover’s Beach
  • Santa Maria Beach
  • Chileno Beach

The reason these beaches stand out is because of their fantastic scenery. Medano Beach, for example, is a two-mile-long coastline that offers golden sand and is known for having some of the best swimming in the area. Because of that, it is pretty popular, so expect some larger crowds.

Other beaches, like Lover’s Beach, provide looming expanses of granite that frame the coastline. Boulders surround you and even jut out from the water, providing an exciting backdrop that you won’t find at every Cabo beach.

Santa Maria is known for great snorkeling and maybe a whale sighting, while Chileno is famous for its pristine water quality.

When Is Cabo San Lucas’ Hurricane Season?

The Eastern Pacific Ocean, where Cabo San Lucas is located, does have a hurricane season every year. Its timeframe is from May 15th to November 30th. The peak part of the season for both sides of the coast, however, is from August through October.

According to experts at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the coming years’ hurricane season should be near-normal. There’s a 30 percent chance the season could be above-normal, as well as a 30% chance it could be below-normal.

With that in mind, you can plan around the peak season if you’re concerned. Meteorologists track hurricanes days in advance, though, allowing people ample opportunity to prepare.
