Latest Cabos Golf Course
Cabo San Lucas currently holds the distinction of being one of the top golf destinations in the world. For this reason, I had high hopes going into my first round at the new Four Seasons’ Costa Palmas Golf Club. This Cabos golf course did not disappoint! As an exclusive amenity to owners and resort guests of the La Ribera’s Costa Palmas community, the course remains perfectly manicured year-round, and even their practice area is impressive. The staff couldn’t be friendlier, and the views couldn’t be better. If you are looking for a luxury golf experience, you’ll indeed find it here.
Costa Palmas does not begin and end in the same place, so at the beginning of the round golfers get to take a beautiful ride past the length of all eighteen. Alongside the first tee box is a sizable practice area which includes a driving range, 30,000 square foot lit putting course for night play, a six-hole short course, and Costa Palmas’ restaurant, Bouchie’s.
The first hole is essentially bunkerless as it’s surrounded by sand. These large areas of sand force you to play target golf, but it’s a fun experience compared to other Los Cabos Golf courses. The third hole is a par three and a favorite, bringing you close to the Sea of Cortez. Hole four offers a very long par five with a split fairway created by a long bunker right in the middle. Aiming left is the shorter route but I like to play to the right which offers a much better view of what is to come.
The beautiful Sierra de la Laguna Mountains serve as the backdrop to the par-five seventh hole and somewhat serve as a transition to the course’s six “upland” holes. This part of the course provides players with wide fairways, but it also introduces trees and strategically placed bunkers, pushing you to consider club choices and course management consciously. As you meander through this area, you’ll notice future development plans and an Equestrian Center, which we’re told will also include a Polo course. The site is sensational and feels like a dreamy oasis with some of the most meticulously cared-for greens we’ve seen in a while.
Following the long par three thirteenth hole, the course’s finishing stretch begins to offer glimpses of the harbors, coves, and channels that make Costa Palmas one of the world’s top sportfishing destinations. The fifteenth is the first marina hole, a medium-length par four with a fantastic tee shot. On sixteen, we find more sand, but this time backed by the sea. Eighteen is a long, straight – but tricky – par four, ending with a forgiving punchbowl-like green as found on many back nine holes.
Golfers of all skill levels can enjoy this Cabos golf course at Costa Palmas. The overall golf experience encourages players to have fun and is further enhanced by a top-notch practice area, including the lit putting and the six-hole short course. To top it off, Bouchie’s takes golf course dining to another level. The vibrant al fresco venue is perfect for both a quick bite to eat and an extended afternoon “nineteenth hole” experience. I can see the wives and kids joining after a round for innovative ice cream treats and handcrafted cocktails. The Cabos golf course doesn’t miss a beat; they have it all. Costa Palmas is a course you can play regularly and never get tired of it.
