Rancho San Lucas Golf in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

From the moment you drive over the dunes you will be lost in awe when entering Rancho San Lucas on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas. The magnificent Rancho San Lucas golf course is breathtaking at every corner. The hospitality, clubhouse, facilities and golf course are world-class. The attention to detail is 5-star and the experience is something you will never forget.

About the Rancho San Lucas Golf Course

“The Ranch” is a Greg Norman design, 18-hole course, in a luxurious 834-acre resort and residential community fronting the Pacific Ocean.  The community is about 15 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas.  Rancho San Lucas is destined to become the destination’s next great venue.

Built to the natural shape of the land, the golf course looks like it has always been there, fitting perfectly into the landscape. The total length is a generous 7,210 yards (par 72), with endless ocean views.  The main focus on the design was to make it as natural as possible. “We look at integrating indigenous landscapes and grass varieties that use the least amount of water,” said Greg Norman, whose golf course design company strives to be environmentally conscious. “Our goal was to build a sustainable course that is playable from all perspectives, including the forward tees. We’re committed to making a global impact by creating courses that withstand the test of time.”

The course is managed by Golf Pro, Mario Navarro, from Juarez, Mexico.  Beyond running a PGA Tour course in Guatemala, Navarro has worked with some of the most exclusive courses in Los Cabos.  His team runs a tight ship and works diligently to ensure efficient playtimes and smooth course operations.

With holes lining the coastline and their signature island par-3 17th hole, you will not leave without a dozen perfect picture opportunities.

The Rancho San Lucas Clubhouse

The clubhouse fits in perfectly with the rest of the resort.  The “ranchero-style” clubhouse at Rancho San Lucas sits high above the ocean, giving you spectacular views as it looks over the opening and closing holes on both nines.  This feature allows players to watch the groups coming in from their rounds. The Golf Shop is well stocked with fashionable sportswear for men and women and will provide players with all their golfing essentials for the day. The clubhouse also features an indoor-outdoor restaurant and an event lawn overlooking the fairways and sea, this is the perfect spot for a sundowner drink.  We also recommend it is a great place to host an event.  Please inquire with our staff as Rancho San Lucas is a private resort community and will not allow most outside events.

The clubhouse is spectacular, with top class locker rooms for men and women, breathtaking views on the verandas, and exquisite service that makes this a world-class venue.

Rancho San Lucas Practice facilities

The conditions of the practice facilities are second to none. Situated next to the clubhouse, the range has everything you can ever need to warm up or get in your weekly practice in.  The 18-hole putting course will get you dialed in and get your flat stick hot, while the dedicated short game area with practice bunkers and target greens for pitching and chipping will push your game to be extremely sharp.  You can also order food to the practice range and there is always a helpful staff to provide assistance.   These facilities are like no other and are incredibly well maintained,;you can get lost in the area for hours.

Rancho San Lucas Comfort Stations

Two comfort stations, also known as “Shark Shacks”, are well placed on the course. These “Shark Shacks” are stocked with Mexican specialties and ice-cold refreshments, giving the players an all-inclusive experience during the round. Different days provide different delicacies.  You can look forward to fish tacos, short rib sandwiches, pork sliders, aracherra quesadillas and more.  There’s also a “welcome wagon” available to players at the practice facility.

Playing The Course at “The Ranch”

After all that (above) the course still needs to speak for itself, and it certainly does not let you down. From the tee boxes to the greens, it seems like every blade of greens has been individually cut.

From the whispering dunes at the start, the course begins to climb through a thick cactus forest creased by winding arroyos, then transitions across a littoral zone, and finally returns you to the beach and dunes for an invigorating finish. The medium-sized greens are fairly easy to hit, but the tricky pin positions make the game slightly harder to manage.  The course’s equalizer is its revetted pot bunkers. These sharp-edged, steep-walled sandy pits are constructed from recycled artificial turf and are almost identical to the traditional bunkers found on British seaside links courses.

Late spring is the windy season on the Rancho San Lucas course. Norman designed a 12-hole Short Course that consists of 12 low-lying holes drawn from regulation 18. These holes are sheltered by the dunes and shielded from Pacific winds.

Rancho San Lucas is a private resort with exclusive golf access available to guests of Solmar Group hotels, including the new on-site Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort.  Real Estate is currently available and priced right as there is still an opportunity to purchase pre-construction inventory.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a place that is far beyond something that you can ever imagine, then Rancho San Lucas’ Golf Course is for you. Its magnificent clubhouse, spectacular views and world-class golf course really do set itself above the rest.
