  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in January: Let's start the year off on the right foot! Compared to many places in the world, the winter months are relatively hot. The average temperature during the day in the month of January is 77°F. One of our favorite places to be in January is at the lighthouse at Quivira to watch all of the migrating whales.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in February: Dia del Amor esta aqui! February has a very similar climate as January. The average temperature during the day is 78°F and whale migration season is in full effect.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in March: Ahhh it's March and it's Spring Break time in Cabo! The average temperature in March is 80°F and has the highest overall satisfaction rating, according to a study that we performed with guests. The weather is perfect and the vibe is unmatched.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in April: April is the month where Cabo weather starts to warm up. April is when the sky starts to clear up and allows guests to enjoy the warm Cabo sunshine without any lingering clouds.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in May: Fun fact: Cinco de Mayo is a sparsely celebrated holiday in Mexico. May is a month that can be considered both windy and dry. May typically has the least amount of rainfall of any month in Cabo. May is the start of fishing season in Cabo and is rated "excellent" for Dorado, Mackerel, Snapper, and more.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in June: Let the summer begin! June is the first summer month, which is shown by an average monthly high temperature of 89°F. June can also be characterized as one of the windiest months of the year. June is a perfect month to come and enjoy all of the fun water activities in Cabo. It is a great time to fish for Roosterfish, Striped Marlin, Snook, and more.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in July: Bring your sombreros and tanning lotion because July is here! With an average daily high of almost 92°F, July is the second hottest month of the year. It is a great time to fish for Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, Goliath Grouper, and more.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in August: The hottest month of the year is upon us! August has an average high temperature of a little over 93°F. The humid season begins to pick up in August and will last through October. August is known amongst anglers as it is the beginning of the Bisbee's East Cape Offshore Fishing Tournament.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in September: Let Cabo San Lucas hurricane season begin. September is the most humid and rain-filled month of the year in Los Cabos. Most of the severe hurricanes and tropical storms in Cabo's history have occured in September. The combination of warm ocean water and the high air temperature create an electric stir in the Pacific. This is a great time to fish for Sailfish, Wahoo, and Yellowfin Tuna.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in October: Let the Bisbee's Black and Blue begin!! The Black and Blue is the world's largest prize fishing tournament. Cabo Hurricane season does extend into October so you will still experience some humidity. The average daily high comes back down to 89°F.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in November: Enjoy a warm Thanksgiving in Los Cabos. The temperature starts to cool down in November as the average daily high is around 84°F. The sun starts to set earlier and the water starts to cool down during this month.
  • Cabo San Lucas Weather in December: It's shark season! December in Cabo is a gorgeous time. The average daily high temperature is back down to around 80°F. Our favorite place to be in December is the firework show on Medano Beach on New Years Eve.
  • CABO WATER TEMPERATURE

Water temperature in Cabo will depend on which body of water you are talking about. As Cabo San Lucas is at the tip of the Baja California Sur peninsula, it is surrounded by two different bodies of water: the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. The Pacific Ocean, at all times, will be colder than the Sea of Cortez. The mixing of these two bodies of water; the warm and the hot; is why many people believe Cabo is such a rich area for sportfishing.

According to reports on the average surface temperature of the water, Cabo experiences 3.5 months of warm water, 3.8 months of moderate water, and 4.7 months of cold water. The temperature fluctuates between 70°F and 83°F.

CABO SAN LUCAS WATER TEMPERATURE BY MONTH

  • Mid-January to June: These months are considered the cold water months in Los Cabos. Despite being "cold," the average water temperature during this time is just below 70°F. For anyone who doesn't live in a warm and tropical climate, 70°F water sounds more like a bath than an ocean. This is the best time for whale watching in Los Cabos as the whales are moving south for the Winter.
  • June to late-July & early-November to mid-January: These in-between months are considered moderately tempered transitional months. There are two, two-month long spells where the water is between changing from hot to cold and vice versa. Between June and July, the average water temperature rises from 73°F to 81°F. And between November and January, the average water temperature drops from 81°F to 73°F.
  • Late-July to early-November: This 3.5-month stretch is when the water is warmest in Los Cabos. During this time, the average Cabo water temperature is over 81°F. This is the perfect time to come and do all of your favorite water activities: snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing charters, swimming with whale sharks, flyboards, and more. If you are fortunate enough to be in Los Cabos during this time, we highly recommend you spend some quality time in both your villa's private pool and the ocean.
  • CABO TEMPERATURE

While many people think Cabo is hot, hot, and some more hot, many people are surprised to learn how enjoyable the temperature is for most of the year. Throughout the year, Cabo has an average temperature of 61°F to 91°F. Peak heat usually occurs between 12pm and 4:30pm. At about 5:30pm is when you start to see the temperature drop as the sun starts to slowly lower in the sky. As an average, Cabo San Lucas weather is 3°F to 5°F colder than San Jose del Cabo weather due in part to it's position relative to the Pacific side that provides a much stronger breeze. For those people who like slightly cooler temperatures and being located in the heart of the action, Cabo San Lucas is where you want to rent your villa. For those who like a quieter experience, San Jose del Cabo is where you want to vacation in Los Cabos. For San Jose del Cabo, we recommend either Puerto Los Cabos or Palmilla.

    HOT & COLD SEASON

The Los Cabos hot season usually begins around mid-June and lasts until mid-to-late October, typically spanning about 4 months long. During this time, the average daily high is around the 89°F. The hottest time of the year is in the heart of summer, in early-August. Those who love to soak up the warm sunshine will relish being outdoors, at Medano Beach or suntanning on your balcony.

The "cold" season here in Cabo is a far stretch from being cold. However many guests love to come during these months to experience their perfect temperatures and escape the cold weather back home. This winter season starts in early-December and goes until mid-March. It typically lasts about 3.5 months and the average daily high is 81°F. The "coldest day of the year," with an average daily high of 79°F, is in mid-to-late January.

    HUMIDITY

Los Cabos is classified as a tropical desert, meaning the Baja has both dry and humid weather, but for the most part, Cabo has a relatively dry climate. Those who have been to places like Cancun, Florida, or other tropical climates, know how brutal the humidity can be. With high humidity, you can almost guarantee that you will be sweating at all times unless in air conditioning. The amazing part about Cabo's climate during a majority of the year is the ability to be warm and sunny, but not force you to change clothes four times per day. However, since Cabo is a tropical desert, the area does have a short season of increased humidity.

A big difference in the characteristics between temperature and humidity is the level of change that occurs in a day. In Cabo, even on hot days, the temperature will drop to a very comfortable level at night. But with humidity, a humid day almost always means a humid night as well. Compared to many places in the world, Cabo has a high seasonal variation for humidity.

    DRY SEASON

The dry season is the most pleasant time to travel to Cabo, according to the Cabo Tourism's 'Score of Enjoyment'. Cabo's dry season typically spans from mid-November to mid-to-late June. During that time, Cabo experiences humidity levels of less than 25% and normally sits around 1% humidity from December through the end of March. The best time to visit Cabo for overall satisfaction, between vivacious activities and perfect weather, is mid-March, which falls perfectly on Spring Break for most people. Some of our favorite Spring Break activities include chartering a yacht, in-villa massages, afternoons at Mango Deck, dancing at the nightclubs, and of course, ALL of Cabo's famous outdoor activities.

    HUMID SEASON
    DOES IT RAIN IN CABO?

The humid season in Los Cabos goes from mid-to-late June to mid-November. During this time, the level of humidity is considered, "muggy, oppressive, or miserable" only 25% of the time. While Cabo is considered to be humid 4-5 months per year, only 1-2 months have significant effects. Early September is typically the most humid time of the year. Due to humidity and the heating of the ocean, September is when we have our rainy/hurricane season.

    CABO SAN LUCAS HURRICANE SEASON

Believe it or not, there is a rainy season in Los Cabos. And depending on Cabo San Lucas water temperature and pressure, we can sometimes even get hurricanes. The last hurricane that hit Cabo was Hurricane Odile in September of 2014. Almost every year, Cabo gets a tropical rainstorm, which can vary in intensity. The last Cabo tropical rainstorm was Storm Lidia in September of 2017.

On average, Cabo only gets around 12 days of rain annually. 90% or more of the annual rainfall in Cabo happens during the months of September and October. The least rainy time of the year is mid-May, just before Cabo's weather starts to heat up.
