PEDREGAL CABO LUXURY VILLAS
Known as “The Beverly Hills of Cabo San Lucas,” Pedregal is one of the most revered and well-known communities in Los Cabos. A journey through Pedregal’s beautiful mountains and cobblestone streets encompasses old-world Mexican charm and the rich history of Los Cabos. Pedregal Cabo San Lucas is known as one of the first luxury residential communities in Los Cabos. Pedregal has earned and maintained its prestigious reputation as a highly desirable community for both renters and homeowners.
Pedregal’s guard-gated community is located just minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas and the famous IGY Marina. For people who like to be located in the middle of the action, this is the place to be. Many homes in this community are within walking distance to restaurants, bars, boutique shopping, and beaches. For those who like to enjoy exclusivity and privacy, the mountainous community has 24-hour guard-gated security. All of this along with a variety of big, beautiful homes spread across large granite cliffs that boast unparalleled views is what sets Pedregal Cabo San Lucas apart from most other communities.
Inside of the Pedregal Cabo villas community, you will find a pet-friendly, private beach that is perfect for sunset walks, family gatherings, or whale watching (when in season). Located on the Pacific-side of the community is the nature-inspired spa and fitness facility. Indulge in personalized massages, facials, and treatments that are always performed with top-of-the-line organic products. Get in the best shape of your life at the fitness facility that offers personal training sessions, fitness classes, yoga getaways, and more. There are multiple, well-lit tennis courts nestled within the development and a tennis snack bar that offers a basic menu of local options. We highly recommend making a reservation when playing at the Pedregal Tennis courts, as it can get very busy. Your Cabo Platinum Concierge can help make the arrangements. Price are around $25 USD per hour, depending upon the time of day and number of players in your group.
PEDREGAL CABO HOUSES FOR RENT
This high-end, illustrious community has been providing its residents with outstanding experiences for almost 40 years. The list of happy homeowners and guests includes movie stars, professional athletes, and people with extraordinary taste for luxury and elegance. The hills of Pedregal contain a majestic ambiance that you can only understand once you are there to experience. If you have not been to Pedregal before, prepare yourself for views that are unique to anywhere else in the world. As our team knows many of the Pedregal Homeowners, we are well aware it is a community of like-minded, successful people who enjoy the authenticity of the majestic landscape, while still being close to the action of downtown Cabo.
Many of our guests ask us the downside of the Pedregal community vs other places to stay or own a home in Cabo. Our first reaction is always the cobblestone streets. Where some people love them and can’t comprehend living amongst normal, paved streets while in Mexico; others can’t stand the “bumpity bump” they experience while driving through the community. The advantage of the roads becomes apparent the first time you drive around the neighborhood with a Polaris or Can-Am off-road vehicle. The way your ATV (or UTV) hugs the turns and creates an immersive experience is unparalleled. However, if you don’t have mud-digging tires and you can’t experience the roads with baja racecar shocks, then Pedregal quickly gets to be a teeth-chattering, windy ride.
One of our favorite parts of Pedregal Cabo San Lucas is the beach. It is unique the way that the rock formations jut out of the sandy landscape. It is a favorite location for local photographers and family photos. The backdrop is incredibly different than other beaches in Cabo and there is a wide variety of places to take photos: within the craggy caves of the granite sand-stone formations, in front of bodaciously beautiful beachfront homes or on the beach with the surf washing up onto the sand. It is also an incredible place to watch whales and sea turtles, as they get very up-close and personal on the Pedregal beach. Only downside is the no swimming rule. Since the shore has a steep descent into the ocean, there is a strong undertow and sleeper waves are known to hit the beach at odd moments throughout the year. There is a safety concern and everyone on the beach should maintain the standard rule and keep eyes on the ocean at all times.
As Pedregal sits on the Pacific-side of Los Cabos, the breeze also creates a unique environment that is a wonderful experience on a hot sunny day. The next development North of Pedregal is called Quivira. Some say the winds that flow down the coast from Quivira are unbearable. On a particularly windy day, it is hard to keep a hat on your head. This is not the case in Pedregal as the community sits within a valley that is protected by the northern-most land formation. Although some of Pedregal’s homes do experience the whipping winds, most are protected and guarded from the discomfort. And those hot sunny days welcome the cool breezes that grace this community.
It is important to know—for renters and homeowners—that Pedregal is home to Los Cabos’ Waldorf Astoria. Going through many name changes, from Capella Pedregal, to The Resort at Pedregal, the new ownership and management of Waldorf Astoria took effect in 2019. The property boasts five-star restaurants, such as El Farallon and Don Manuel’s. It also has one of the top-rated spas in the world. With a plethora of treatments and services, an indulgent environment and a fully immersive menu of offerings, this resort provides a large list of a la carte amenities to the residents of Pedregal Cabo San Lucas.
Make no mistake, Pedregal Cabo is Spring Break central from late February to early May. Almost as easy to anticipate as whale watching season, most locals in Cabo know they can depend on America’s (and sometimes Canada’s) young adult crowd–with fanny packs, loud neon colors and no shoes—to swarm around Pedregal during the height of Spring Break. As most of the community is within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, marina and nightlife, college kids love the community because they can stay in beautiful homes while saving a few bucks on taxi rides. With that said, it’s not a bad place to stay for everyone else, as long as you can endure the noise and chaos that comes with young adults and tequila. In the last few years, our team has seen more homeowners denying certain age ranges to rent their homes during this time and/or pricing their nightly rates out of the market to ensure they have people in their home of quality, instead of just loud party people that all chipped-in together and “got a sweet deal.”
One of the most interesting arguments we’ve heard from guests is when they are deciding where to stay in Pedregal and choosing which location is best. Depending on where your villa is located, you could have a view of the Pacific Ocean, or the Marina, or both or neither. Where most homes in Pedregal do have a view, some do not and are priced accordingly. One thing is for sure, everyone wants a view! Where most people are dead-set on having a Pacific Ocean view, others claim the marina is the best. During the day, we agree, the Pacific is an amazing and breathtaking vista to take in and embrace. If you are in villas such as Villa Lands End, Mantea Casa Cabo or Casa Nautilus (to name a few), you are seeing a beautiful crystal clear blue ocean and all the way south to the rock formations of Lands End. However, at night, you don’t see anything. And this is what fuels the debate. When the sun goes down, these villas and others around them are looking at complete blackness. Whereas villas that face the marina will see the glittering sparkle of the city, the marina and on most nights, fireworks on Medano beach. People say it is one of the most entertaining parts of their vacation to sit at the pool of Villa Vegas and take in the Cabo Nights and all of the energy and action that thrives throughout the year.
Most of our guests love Pedregal because it is close to town. Ease of access to restaurants, shopping, nightlife and entertainment is an important part of their vacation or homeownership. Although we have also met people that don’t like the noise and appreciate being off the beaten path, most appreciate Pedregal for these elements alone. In addition, the cliffside community generally attracts the like. This means that if you are in Pedregal to party poolside, enjoy the beauty of Cabo’s Pacific landscape and be close to the action of downtown, then Pedregal is the perfect place for you.
