PUERTO LOS CABOS MEXICO
Dating back to the 1500s, mariners traveling with the royal British and Spanish treasure fleets, as well as merchant ships bound for trade, found the coves of Los Cabos provided refuge from the pirates that lurked along the Pacific coast. In addition, this exact location offered ships a safe place to take cover and draw upon the area’s freshwater supply. With rich history and charm, the modern development team of Grupo Questro and the Baja’s best known Familia Sanchez Navarro, decided to include a marina in the community making it one of only two in the Los Cabos area (and a third is currently being built in La Rivera). At the Puerto Los Cabos Marina, you can find over 200 slips and boats up to 400 feet. In addition, the Puerto Los Cabos Marina is the only one that provides smaller boats access to a crane and store facility; thus removing boats that like to be stored out of the water. In addition, our sources tell us that future marina plans consist of a shoppers village, restaurants, commercial spaces, a malecon, and a San Francisco-style trolley that provides guests transportation around the marina. For now, visitors can enjoy miles of bike riding with several food and beverage stops as they circle the marina.
The Sanchez Navarro family, who founded Puerto Los Cabos, are great supporters of the arts. With support for both national and local artisans, they have scattered a plethora of different mediums in and around the community. The Puerto Los Cabos Marina hosts a majority of the 15 bronze sculptures, which were created by Leonora Carrington, an internationally acclaimed surrealist artist. The art pieces are also accompanied by 50 different panels depicting life and works by the same artist. It is truly a magnificent journey, meandering through the marina and seeing some of the “larger than life” structures. For any visiting guests that are looking for a great outdoor activity, we recommend renting bicycles at Hotel El Ganzo and spending a day riding bikes from art piece to art piece, with drinks and plenty of photo opportunities in between.
Being just five minutes outside of downtown San Jose Del Cabo means you’re close to both the cultural and colorful downtown area as well as the airport. Renters and owners benefit from a myriad of exciting food and fare scattered around the area. Tourist favorite and consistently published in Forbes, Conde Naste and other well-known publications, Flora Farms is a farm-to-table experience for everyone. Known for weddings, fundraisers, Los Cabos’ own Best in Show Competition; Flora Farms is a must-visit for anyone new to the area. The property is a massive farm that encompasses locally grown produce where they use all of their own fruits and vegetables in their food and drink menus. They also host live music, cooking classes, and a variety of events throughout the year. And the property is always busy as the restaurant is built next to a timeshare/fractional ownership community of hay-bail homes.
If you find yourself eating at Flora Farms too often, then you need to experience the farm-to-table dining experience next door at Acre. In addition to being more contemporary with their design, they also offer treehouse hotel rooms and rammed earth suites for fractional ownership. They offer a great menu and sumptuous libations at their bar. Acre in San Jose del Cabo is also a great place for kids as they have a petting zoo at the back of the property. If you have the time, plan to spend your afternoon here as there is plenty to see and do at Acre Cabo.
And if you surf, Puerto Los Cabos is only a 15-minute drive from some of the most incredible surf breaks on the East Cape. Different areas always have waves that impress. From 9 Palms, to Old Mans, Punta Pefecta, and Shipwrecks… there are areas for beginners and more challenging waves for the experienced. We always recommend Zai sushi, which is an appreciated midway point for those driving to Cabo Pulmo for a day of deep-sea diving. However, if you’re a surfer and you ask nicely, Zai sushi will let you tear up the waves on their boards in between platters of sashimi, fresh fish cut rolls, and their very own smokey mezcal cocktails.
Puerto Los Cabos is great for people that enjoy exercise. It has some of the most expansive sidewalks that meander through the hilly terrain. Most mornings, you’ll see homeowners, renters, and kids on bicycles exercising throughout the community. And top of this, many of the homes in Puerto Los Cabo also have gyms. It’s always nice being around other people with like-minded interests, especially when it’s health-conscious and beachfront.
From Los Cabos golf spa resort to Sea of Cortez surfing, to deep-sea diving, UTV Polaris riding, horse-back riding, culinary adventures, boating/yachting, bike riding, beach-combing, Sunday brunching, fishing, and more…..
