MEDANO BEACH (PLAYA EL MEDANO)

Medano Beach is centrally located and by far the most popular sea of cortez swimming beach in Los Cabos. Creating the coastline of downtown Cabo San Lucas, this 4-kilometer stretch of coast provides incredible views of the world-famous Lands End and is recommended as a great place to spend a day.

You can enjoy a wide variety of motorized and non-motorized water activities. From kayaks and standup paddleboards to wave runners and motorized jet boards, Medano Beach offers something for everyone. Even non water lovers will enjoy sitting at a restaurant and shopping. Vendors will bring clothes, toys, blankets, and trinkets directly to the dining table. Vendors are one of Medano Beach’s most staple item as they walk back and forth filled with goods, in search of their next big sale. Although some people get angry at vendors, many of our guests enjoy the fact that the shopping comes to them…. While they get to sip on a margarita…. On the beach!

Medano Beach is full of great restaurants where you can enjoy food and drinks while digging your toes in the sand. Whether you’re in the mood for fresh seafood, traditional Mexican cuisine, or a good old-fashioned cheeseburger and fries, you’ll be able to find it here. For great food and crafted cocktails, we recommend SUR Beach Club. You can dine on their wooden floor deck or use one of their lounge chairs and spend your day in the sand. Dining at SUR Beach Club will give you access to their beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, and showers. They also provide free valet and their bathrooms smell good.

Other great restaurants on Medano Beach include The Office, 7 Tribes, Hacienda Cocina y Cantina, and Cascadas. All of these restaurants provide great Mexican fare and have been pleasing guests for years. Shoes and shirts are recommended and credit cards are accepted.
If your group is craving a CaboSan Lucas beach party, Medano Beach also has a variety of bars and party places that offer bottle service, buckets of beer, delicious margaritas, and fresh seafood. The lively restaurant and day club, Mango Deck, known for its Spring Break extravaganzas, is the most famous and well-known Cabo Beach Party. Complete with Cabo Beach Wet T-shirt contests, tequila shooters and live music, Mango Deck is Party Central in Cabo. For a more mature Medano party environment, the ME Melia Hotel and Pool Party offer bottle service and well-known DJs.

For the best places to access Medano Beach, many people park at the downtown Puerto Paraiso mall and walk along Cachet Beach Club. There is a fee for the parking garage so bring pesos and carry your parking ticket with you. Since it is located near the marina and downtown, most vendors will speak good English so you can always ask someone the quickest way to get there.

LOVER'S & DIVORCE BEACH (PLAYA DEL AMOR)

Located at the Baja’s most southern point, these two Cabo San Lucas beaches provide unparalleled marine views and unique experiences. In order to access these beaches, it is necessary to take a water taxi, rent a kayak, or use another form of water-based transportation. When you’re ready to explore, take a water taxi for about $10 USD per person. This tourist excursion will take you on a tour around Lands End, drop you off, and bring you back. It’s a fun Cabo San Lucas adventure and worth the money. You can pick up a tonga (or water taxi) at the marina or on the sand in front of Mango Deck.

Just before the rock formations of “Lands End,” Lovers Beach is on the Sea of Cortez side while Divorce Beach is on the Pacific Ocean. Lovers Beach provides good conditions for swimming and snorkeling (most months of the year) and is a popular place for people to enjoy romantic picnics, take wedding and family photos, or simply enjoy a relaxing day without the distractions of vendors.

Walking from Lovers Beach, through the crevasse of a massive rock formation with beautiful surf and out onto the Pacific side, lies Divorce Beach. This Los Cabos beach is known more for its alluring beach, strong currents and crashing waves. It is unsafe for swimming and anyone walking should exercise extreme caution and never turn their back on the waves. If you decide to stay on the beach until evening, Divorce Beach provides you with unforgettable Pacific Ocean sunsets.

The easiest place to get a water taxi is on the marina. You will be able to purchase the roundtrip excursion on-site and specify a time for the driver to return and pick you up when you are ready. You can also purchase your trip while walking along the beach. Always make sure to negotiate the price at the beginning and don’t pay until the end. If you’re up for some exercise, rent a kayak or SUP board on Medano Beach and paddle out to Lovers Beach. Make sure you stay close to the shoreline and watch out for motorized vehicles around you. Some of the jet skiers have been known to be Mango deck party animals.

One of our favorite places to stay on Medano Beach is Hacienda Residences & Club, also known as Hacienda Cabo Resort. This guard-gated community is comprised of 109 full ownership luxury villas and condominiums. Nightly rentals include access to the on-site restaurant, gym/spa, community pools, kids club, and walking paths. If you rent one of the 4-bedroom beachfront villas, you also get access to a golf cart and can zip around the property. Best beachfront experiences happen in Villa de Los Suenos.

DIAMANTE BEACH (PLAYA DIAMANTE)

Driving 20 minutes northwest of downtown San Lucas, towards Todos Santos, will have you at the golf and resort community of Diamante Cabo San Lucas. Here, you will find a 1.5-mile stretch of surf that provides good beach access and guard-gated privacy. The waves here are known to be large and crash against the shore, which provides an incredible setting where you can listen to the ocean and enjoy Los Cabo’s natural beauty. However, Diamante beach is not recommended for swimming. From November to March, Diamante Beach is one of the best Cabo San Lucas beaches to sit and observe breaching whales as they migrate South, as well as other marine life. All this and no vendors make Diamante a tranquil escapade.

In addition to whale watching (when in-season), one of the most alluring features of this stunning beach is the sunsets. Being northwest of Cabo and having limited view obstructions, Diamante beach provides a tremendous perspective for tourists to watch Pacific-side sunsets. This area gets very windy so come prepared with a windbreaker or blanket. And if you have dogs, this is a great place to run them up and down the coast. We ask you to be a good pet owner and bring a leash and plastic bags when dogs relieve themselves.

For those unfamiliar with the exact location, head Northwest on Hwy 19, as if you are driving towards Todos Santos. Turn left on “Camino de Acceso a Diamante.” It will be very shortly after you pass the Policia Municipal & Transito (which you will see on your right). Look for the street signs that say “Diamante CSL” and “Playa Publica.” Traffic is consistently increasing in this area as it is home to the new Hard Rock Hotel and Nobu Hotel. Complete with restaurants and live music venues, Diamante is another Cabo San Lucas beach lovers paradise.
